In case you preferred the previous generation of Swift DZire (now sold as DZire Tour), there's good news for you. Steep demand and a huge waiting period for the regular DZire have meant that Maruti has been forced to sell its DZire Tour to the general public.

As per Maruti's original plan, after the launch of the new DZire, the DZire Tour would be only offered in its base LXi/LDi trim for taxi/fleet operators. Maruti dealers have confirmed that starting last week, they are now taking individual orders from private buyers as opposed to bulk orders from fleet operators.

The DZire Tour costs Rs 4.89 lakh and Rs 5.91 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the LXi and LDi versions respectively.

The bare basic Tour gets black bumpers, only right side rear view mirror and standard features include only an AC and power steering. The benefit of buying the Tour is that there is no waiting period on it (unlike the new DZire which has a 4-6 month waiting). Another boon is the larger boot, which at 464-litres is over 100-litres more than the current DZire, making it a great highway car.

Do you think this is a good deal, or is the waiting period for the new DZire worth it? Tell us in the comments below.
