Maruti's A-star Aktiv launched
Special edition of the little city runabout available in VXi and VXi AT guises
The month of December is always a slow month for car sales in India. Buyers defer their purchase to the next month in order to buy a car in the new calendar year.
Naturally, discounts, special offers and limited editions of cars currently on sale are the preferred remedies. Maruti Suzuki too believes in the same, and has now come out with the A-star Aktiv, a limited-run model to counter sluggish sales.
Available only in VXi and VXi AT trims, the A-star Aktiv features body graphics, ORVMs, fog lamp overplate and a section of the front bumper splashed in red paint, a blackened B-pillar and an Aktiv logo on the outside, whereas the insides get new seat covers, steering cover, floor mats, rear parcel tray and a security system. Mechanically, the car stays the same. All of the added equipment nearly totals up to Rs 15,000, says Maruti.
Manohar Bhat, Vice President (Marketing), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, "A-star is one of the most vibrant brands in our product portfolio. Some of its high points such as contemporary styling, dynamic handling and ride quality, best in class turning radius, power, flat torque and superior performance has made A-star a popular choice especially amidst the youth. The stylish modifications in the A-star Aktiv are in line with our plans to offer our young and energetic customers a sleeker, more stylish and feature packed A-star. We are confident that this special edition will bring pride to the select owners who get to possess it."
Appealing offer, or is it a case of "too little, too late", TopGearers?
