Mercedes reveals new E-Class Coupe, Cabriolet
They are now more stylish, come with greater safety features, improved engines and more high-tech options
Less than a month after Mercedes showcased its refreshed E-Class sedan, the German giant has now unveiled the revised versions of the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet.
Like the sedan, the revised two-door models sport new anti-dazzle single-assemble headlamps with LED treatment, new front bumper design and a larger grille. At the rear, along with the new tail lamps and a wide-effect rear bumper, the duo retains the muscular-looking rear wing. The interiors now come with redesigned centre console, new interior colour combinations and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
The models also come with an improved list of standard safety features that consists of collision prevention assist – a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive brake assist, and attention assist which can detect inattentiveness and drowsiness across a wider speed range.
Optional safety features include stereo multi-purpose camera with three-dimensional view up to 50metres in front of the vehicle, hi-tech anti-collision systems like Distronic Plus with Steering Assist and Brake Assist Plus, adaptive high beam assist, and active parking assist.
On the hardware list, both models come fitted with the agility control suspension with selective damping system as standard. In future, Mercedes also plans to introduce these models with electromechanical Direct-Steer system to ensure more direct response and sharper handling.
For the European markets, the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet will be offered with two petrol engines - E 200 BlueEFFICIENCY (BE) and E 250 BE, and three diesel engine options - E 220 CDI BE, E 250 CDI BE and E 350 BlueTEC. Mercedes will offer two transmission options for the Coupe and Cabriolet – a 6-speed manual transmission and an improved 7G-tronic Plus automatic ’box with Direct Select lever and shift paddles.
We expect Mercedes to launch the new E-Class lineup in India by the end of 2013. Till then, have a look at the new E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet pictures.
