Tata reveals Vista D90 Xtreme Concept

Not quite as 'Xtreme' as the name suggests, but does hint at a beefier Vista variant not too far away from launch

Tata Motors' overall position in the Indian car market has been yo-yoing with every passing quarter. This year, Tata has promised to roll out a raft of new, exciting products, and after launching the Vista D90 yesterday, has now shown us this: the Vista D90 Xtreme Concept.

Even though Tata says it's just a concept, this particular example looks pretty close to production.

As you can probably make out, even though the Xtreme is based on the Vista, it does look a bit different. That's because it has been altered a bit. The Xtreme features a new mesh grille (unlike the current Vista's shared-with-the-Manza chrome grille), flared wheelarches, air vents on the bonnet and on the new front bumper, a contrast roof with rails, lots of black plastic cladding and a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate (which is a tad 'Xtreme').

On the inside, the car is upholstered in leather with yellow double-stitching (to go with the "Gunmetal Yellow" paintjob on this version), and also gets an aluminium-finished gearlever to complement the new aluminum pedals.

It's not just a cosmetic makeover though. Tata has jacked up the ride height on the Xtreme by 25mm, fitted it with new front struts, progressive springs and differently-tuned dampers. The car rides on 16" alloy wheels and is equipped with tyres wider than the ones seen on the stock Vista. Also, the power has been bumped up to 104bhp courtesy of what Tata calls the "Power Boost Module". No information on what it exactly is, but we're guessing it's a lot of magical dwarves hard at work inside a small vault.

Even though Tata says it's just a concept, this particular example looks pretty close to production. Would you buy one with the exact same equipment for about a lakh more than the existing Vista variants, TG.commers?
