Ford India's Figo ad campaign in bad taste?
Figo does have a big boot, but this ad is not be the best way to show it off...
The Figo is a pretty good car, and our review will tell you exactly why. Its spacious boot is definitely boast-worthy and it would be fair for advertisers to promote it in their campaigns. But this, may have gone a bit too far.
Ford India's recent Figo ads have created a stir for showing scantily clad women, clearly being kidnapped in the boot of a Ford Figo. Considering the crime against women in India that are in media focus these days, these ads certainly seems to be in bad taste.
There are three creatives in this particular campaign - one showing the former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi with a trunk full of bound and gagged strippers, while he's giving a peace salute and a wide smile. The second is of Paris Hilton with the three Kardashian sisters in the boot, and the last one, which seems tame compared to the previous two, is with Michael Schumacher kidnapping Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso.
Ford has issued a statement apologising for the ad claiming that "it should have never happened" and that the "posters are contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within Ford".
What do you think, readers? Did Ford indeed go way too far with this campaign, or is it all in good humour to you? Tell us in the comments below after taking a look at the Figo ad creatives.
