Launched: 2013 Fiat Linea T-Jet
India’s most fun-to-drive sedan gets new features in the 2013 version
We’ve always loved the Fiat Linea T-Jet. The petrol turbo-charged motor, the sharp handling and the good ride. But unfortunately, not many people agreed with us and went ahead with the more practical Linea with a diesel MultiJet sitting under the hood.
But now there’s good news for all of you who were fond of the T-Jet. Fiat announces the arrival of the next-gen 2013 Linea T-Jet. And we are happy to report that the powertrain remains the same. The turbo-charged 1.4-litre petrol churns out 112bhp and 207Nm of torque just like the previous car. And the engine is mated to the same five-speed manual transmission.
Okay, now to things that are new. The 2013 T-Jet will be available in three variants unlike before. But the good news is, all the three variants will have disc brakes all round with ABS and EBD. The new 2013 version gets enhanced ground-clearance of 185-190mm. Along with that, the mid-variant gets auto AC and dual airbags. The top-end Emotion will have Blue and me – Fiat’s verison of Bluetooth connectivity with the rest of the features that the lower variants have. The starting two variants of the T-Jet – Active and Dynamic – run on 15-inch wheels and the top-end Emotion rides on bigger, 16-inch wheels.
The base Active variant is priced at Rs 7.87 lakh, while the Dynamic is pegged at Rs 8.73 lakh. The top-of-the-line variant will be yours for Rs 9.11 lakh. (All prices, ex-showroom, Mumbai)
So, are you the kind who’ll prefer the practicality of the MultiJet, or will you ditch that for all the fun you can have with the T-Jet? Tell us in the comments below.
