Time to get your leather jackets out, don those boots, sunglasses and get that retro-looking half face helmet; the Royal Enfield Café Racer is here!

Royal Enfield has launched its much-awaited Café Racer, the Continental GT in India today. The Café Racer was first seen as a concept at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi, and a working prototype was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo. It is powered by a single-cylinder, 535cc air-cooled engine that produces 29.1bhp and 44Nm of torque. Which also makes it the fastest, most powerful Royal Enfield in production.

Royal Enfield has started with a clean sheet of paper for the GT. Gone is the single downtube chassis in favour of a double downtube cradle setup. For the technically impaired, that equates to a better ride and nimble handling. The Café Racer, with its recessed fuel tank, clip-on handle bars, Paioli rear shocks, Pirelli Sport Demon rubber and rear-set footpegs is also the sportiest RE money can buy.

The GT has been priced at Rs 2.14 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), which means it now sits at the top of RE's range. Rushing to your nearest Royal Enfield dealership already?
