The car that made Skoda a highly sought-after brand in 2001 is back. Well, if you've been following our reviews and video's you'd know that it's been back since a while, but now it can finally be purchased at your local Skoda dealer.

The new Skoda Octavia is built using Skoda's new MQB platform and boasts some incredible space both in terms of legroom and boot space. The latter is achieved using the hatchback philosophy on a sedan-shaped body, turning the boot into a fifth door. This is also the first Skoda vehicle in India to carry its new design philosophy in full glory, along side their 'Simply Clever' features.

The Octavia comes with three engine options – 2.0 TDI turbo-diesel that produces 141bhp and 320Nm, 1.8 TSI turbo-petrol that outputs 177bhp and 250Nm, and lastly a new 1.4 TSI turbo-petrol that makes 138bhp and 250Nm. The diesel is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed DSG gearbox, the 1.8 TSI gets a 7-speed DSG, while the smaller petrol motor is married to a 6-speed manual only.

Skoda has also launched an ownership package for the new Octavia, which includes Skoda's road assistance, service and maintenance, and extended warranty. The Delhi, ex-showroom prices for all the engine options and variants are:

1.4 TSI
Active - Rs 13.95 lakh
Ambition - 14.95 lakh

1.8 TSI
Elegance AT - Rs 18.25 lakh

2.0 TDI CR
Active - Rs 15.55 lakh
Ambition - Rs 16.55 lakh
Ambition AT - Rs 17.55 lakh
Elegance AT - Rs 19.45 lakh
