Limited editions of Volkswagen Polo and Vento launched

No change in power figures, only some minor styling changes

“The Polo and Vento have been amongst our best-selling carlines since its inception in the Indian market.” Says Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen passenger cars India. And he is right in a way, these two cars have been the bread and butter models for the German carmaker in India. To make sure they still attract footfalls in its showrooms, Volkswagen has introduced limited editions of the Polo and Vento.

Christened Polo Pace and Vento Sport, mechanically both the cars remain the same. So, what are the modifications then? To be honest, not a lot. The Vento Sport gets a new red paint scheme, black spoilers, glossy roof foil, black carbon finish ORVM, 16-inch alloy wheels and of course, the ‘Sport’ badge – to remind you that you have purchased a limited edition VW. The Polo Pace gets 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. And? That’s it. So, how much are we supposed to pay for these slight changes? Err, zero.

Only five trims in the Vento – two on the 1.2-litre petrol car and three on the 1.5-litre diesel – will get the ‘limited edition’ badge on its frame. Volkswagen recently discontinued the 1.2-litre petrol engine for the Polo and replaced it with a new 999cc motor which puts out 75bhp of power and 95Nm of twist, and this 999cc is the only trim which will wear the ‘limited edition’ badge. These limited edition models are available across all VW dealerships in India.
