Since its launch in 2014, the Ciaz has been a tough competitor in the mid-size sedan segment. It gave nightmares to the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna. But, with the launch of the Toyota Yaris, this segment has become more brutal. And Maruti is now all set to turn up the heat, as it as going to launch the 2018 Ciaz in a couple of weeks. You may have seen the car on the internet running on highways and wearing camo-wraps. What you are seeing is a glimpse of the upcoming Ciaz. And if you were waiting for the 2018 Ciaz, then we have good news for you. From tomorrow, August 10, Maruti will start taking orders for the 2018 Ciaz and you can book one for Rs 11,000 from Nexa dealerships.

The 2018 Ciaz will get LED projector headlamps with DRLs, LED lights at the rear and new alloy wheels. Expect the updated model to get a new interior trim, cruise control, auto headlamps and an updated infotainment system.

But, what's more interesting is that the 2018 Ciaz will get a new engine. The old 1.4-litre petrol engine will be replaced by the new 1.5-litre petrol motor and we expect it to get a new transmission as well. The new motor will produce 103bhp; that's a bump of 12bhp. While the 2018 Ciaz will get a new petrol motor, the diesel powertrain will be the same as the current one. The 1.3-litre diesel SHVS makes 88bhp and 200Nm of pulling power. The diesel-powered motor is mated to a five-speed gearbox, whereas the petrol motor gets a four-speed automatic gearbox as well.
