After starting the week with the launch of the S4, Audi today announced the launch of its compact luxury SUV, the Audi Q3 in India. The baby Q was unveiled at the Auto Expo in January 2012, and we did get some great hands-on time with it. Needless to say it was one of the most awaited launches of recent times.

Equipped with a 2.0 TDI quattro engine, the Audi Q3 is priced at Rs 26.21 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) for the base grade and Rs 31.49 lakh onwards (again ex-showroom, Maharashtra) for the high grade, and will be available at all 19 Audi dealerships in India.

"The launch of the Audi Q3 is in line with our top-down strategy for India. The Q3 is immediately recognizable as the youngest member of the Audi Q family. Every aspect of the Q3 showcases Audi technology – the body, the drivetrain, the chassis and the assistance and multimedia systems. Many of these elements come directly from the luxury class. At present, only 500 Audi Q3’s will be available for initial booking.", said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

Michael continued to state "The Audi Q3 is the ‘only’ compact SUV in its segment that offers quattro. These qualities make it an apt choice for the younger customer. The Audi Q3 positioning of “start young” clearly defines the category and segment that we are targeting."
