2018 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship: Round 4 to take place in India
The Asia Road Racing Championship is one of the most prestigious racing championships held in Asia. The championship is divided in to three main classes: SuperSport 600, Asia Production 250 and Underbone 150 and takes place at various racetracks around the Asian continent. This year, the first three rounds were held in Thailand, Australia and Japan and now, for the fourth round, the championship is coming to India.
The races which are scheduled for this weekend will see riders fighting for the top spot at the Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai. Representing Honda’s India contingent in the 250cc class are Rajiv Sethu and Anish Shetty. “With our first ever Indian team in Asia Road Racing Championship, Honda is taking Indian motorsport global. By now, Rajiv and Anish are now more attuned to their machines and competition. Our riders are fittest ever before the Chennai round, both physically and mentally. A strong race strategy is already in place.” Said Prabhu Nagaraj, VP, brand and communications, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India. Both Rajiv and Anish represent Honda Ten10 Racing in the Indian national championship, and the young Rajiv ran veteran Jagan Kumar real close in the championship fight last season.
With 130 points, Astra Honda racing team is ruling the points table, followed by Yamaha Thailand racing team with 97 points and AP Honda racing with 66 points. Competing for the first time, Honda India is currently standing at 11th position, ahead of teams like Yamaha Philippines, Honda Vietnam, Team TEC2 and so on.
