2018 Indian Chieftain Elite launched
As one of the most iconic motorcycle makers to come from America, Indian not only builds some of the most powerful cruisers, but they also make some of the most gorgeous motorcycles on this planet. Take the 2018 Chieftain for example, which has just gotten the Elite treatment. The new Chieftain Elite gets a new paint scheme called ‘Black Hills Silver’ with marble accents. It takes 25 hours to hand-paint each bike and production is limited to just 350 units.
The Chieftain Elite is powered by a 1,811cc Thunder Stroke 111 motor that produces 161Nm of torque. The Chieftain Elite is equipped with a telescopic fork up front and a mono-shock at the rear. Twin 300mm discs at the front and a single 300mm disc at the rear are responsible for bringing this 388kg beast to a halt.
When it comes to the bells and whistles, Indian Motorcycle gives even some high-end four-wheelers a run for their money. The Chieftain is equipped with LED lights, ABS, adjustable passenger floorboards, cruise control, 200-watt speakers and a 7-inch touchscreen display which show various information such as tyre pressure, dual trip meter, navigation and average speed. And oh, all these features are standard.
The 2018 Chieftain Elite is priced at Rs 38 lakh (ex-showroom). The Indian Chieftain Elite rivals the Harley-Davidson Street Glide, the H-D Road Glide and with that price tag and those features, we wouldn’t be shocked to see it goes up against an SUV.
