EICMA 2018: This is the KTM 790 Adventure

Read more on:

At the 2017 EICMA, KTM had revealed the prototype version of the 790 Adventure. And those who were in awe of it, we have good news for you. KTM has finally showed us the production version of the 790 Adventure. Globally, it will go on sale next year and chances of KTM bringing the 790 Adventure to our shores are very high. The 790 sits below the 1090 Adventure and the 1290 Adventure.

In terms of design, the 790 Adventure doesn’t look poles apart from its bigger cousin. It gets the typical split-LED headlight, high mounted exhaust system and Dakar-inspired graphics. The 790 Adventure sits on a steel trellis frame and weighs 189kg (dry). Powering this adventure bike is a two-cylinder, four-stroke, 799cc motor that is capable of producing 94bhp and 88Nm of pulling power and is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

This is an adventure-tourer motorcycle and you are not going to use it for drag racing; you will use it to master the toughest and the roughest terrain out there. And being true to its roots, it is equipped with fully adjustable long travel WP suspension with 200mm of travel at both ends. Braking duties are taken care of by dual 320mm discs at the front and a 260mm disc at the rear. In terms of rider aids, it is equipped with cornering ABS, multiple riding modes, motorcycle traction control (this system helps to monitor the amount of rotational speed goes to the rear wheels), cruise control, rally mode (this has a nine-level traction control) and a quickshifter.

If you are not impressed by this one, then there’s also a smaller KTM adventure bike coming to India which may shake up the small capacity adventure-tourer segment in India. Any guesses what it could be?
