EICMA 2018: Yamaha showcases Ténéré 700

Yamaha was teasing us with bits and pieces of its adventure bike for quite some time. And at this year’s EICMA motor show, Yamaha has finally unveiled the production version of the Ténéré 700.

Just like rally bikes, the Ténéré 700 gets quad-LED headlamps, vertical speedometer, a tall windscreen and a raised posture. It sits on an all-new tubular steel double cradle frame designed specifically for the adventure bike. Yamaha claims that the new frame offers better on-road and off-road performance. Powering the 700 is a 689cc CP2 engine that puts out 74bhp at 9,000rpm. And oh, this is the same engine that powers the MT-07.

It features an upside down front fork with 210mm of travel at the front and a monoshock with 200mm of travel at the rear. Stopping power comes from 282mm discs up front and a 245mm disc at the rear. And oh, it gets switchable ABS as well!

And if you are thinking that this adventure motorcycle will grace your garage, then we bad news for you. Just like the Niken GT, the chances of the Ténéré 700 being launched in India are very low.
