Harley Davidson India has launched the Forty Eight Special and the Street Glide Special. These two bikes form a part of Harley Davidsons’ plan to expand themselves in the Indian market. The Forty Eight Special is priced at Rs 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom India) and the Street Glide Special is priced at Rs 30.53 lakh (ex-showroom India). There are new features that have been added to both the motorcycles.

The Forty Eight Special is powered by a 1202cc Evolution V-Twin engine which produces a peak torque of 96Nm at 4250rpm. The styling and features are different than those of the regular Forty Eight. The styling of the Special is an ode to the 70’s custom tank art and features a dark custom style. It also receives tallboy handlebars, an emulsion rear shock screw adjuster and split nine-spoke cast aluminium wheels.

The Street Glide Special is powered by a 1868cc Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine that produces 163Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. Features new to this model are the infotainment system. It features a 6.5-inch full-TFT display which grants the user access to music, messages, phone calls and navigations while riding. It also features talon wheels, front and rear suspensions with adjustable rear shock. This version is a replacement for the existing 2018 model.

Sajeev Rajasekharan, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India, said, "Harley-Davidson was one of the earliest entrants in the premium motorcycle category in India. Completing 10 years in India is just the beginning as we remain the cruiser of choice for many riders. With the all-new Forty-Eight Special, Harley-Davidson India takes its motorcycle line up to 17 Models."

While there is a lack of competition for these motorcycles in the Indian market, the Forty Eight Special comes in competition with the Indian Scout Bobber and the Indian FTR 1200 S and the Street Glide Special goes up against the Indian Chieftain.
