Launched: Ducati Multistrada 1260 at Rs 16 lakh
Italian bike manufacturer, Ducati, has launched the much-awaited Multistrada 1260 in India. Globally, the 1260 is available in four variants – standard, S, S D-Air and the Pikes Peak – but Ducati has decided to bring just the standard and the S variant to the Indian shores. As far as the prices are concerned, the standard 1260 has an introductory price tag of Rs 16 lakh and the S variant will cost you Rs 18.06 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom).
The X-Diavel sourced 1262cc motor puts out 156bhp and 129.5Nm of torque. Ducati says that 85 per cent of peak torque is available at just 3500rpm. The 1260 has six more bhp and 1.5Nm more than the one it is replacing – the 1200. While the standard variant is fitted with radially mounted Brembo callipers, the S is equipped with higher-end Evo M50 4-Piston callipers. A fully adjustable 48mm forks up front and an adjustable monoshock in the rear does the suspension duty for the Standard variant. Meanwhile, the S is equipped with Sachs forks and a Sachs monoshock, both of which are electronically adjustable and semi-active.
In terms of features, the 1260 has received all the bells and whistles from the Italian bike manufacturer. The Standard variant is equipped Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), riding modes, power modes, Ducati Safety Pack (Bosch Cornering ABS + DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), cruise control, Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up/down, Ducati Multimedia System (DMS), and Anti-theft system. The additional equipment which the S gets is Ducati Cornering Lights, Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) and a Full-colour TFT display.
The Multistrada 1260 is more road-biased than the off-road biased adventure tourers like the Tiger 1200 and BMW R1200 GS but slots itself in a similar price bracket
