Launched: TVS Radeon
TVS believes that there is a gap in the products being offered to the young, rural customer. This is the gap that they aim to fill with their new commuter – the TVS Radeon.
The new motorcycle uses the 110cc Dura-Life engine that makes 8.3bhp and 8.7Nm. TVS says the engine has been designed to deliver excellent pick-up without compromising on efficiency. It gets a bigger airbox, moly-costed pistons and a higher capacity clutch. TVS claims an overall efficiency of 69.3kpl.
Aimed at the rural market, the motorcycle gets several features that are aimed specifically at this segment. The seat, for example, is wide and comfortable with lots of cushioning. It gets Dura Grip tyres that promise excellent durability and the suspension and ride ergos have been designed keeping comfort in mind. The chassis is a steel tubular unit with 18-inch wheels at either end. It also offers high ground clearance (180mm) seeing how the primary customer will use it in areas that might not have excellent infrastructure.
There are some other interesting features as well. The Radeon gets a car-like instrument cluster with a speed and fuel readouts. It gets DRLs and a USB charging point as well. It also gets new Synchronized Braking Technology that activates both front and rear brakes when the rider steps on the rear brake alone.
The new TVS Radeon will be available at showrooms for a price of Rs 48,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
