This is the 2019 Kawasaki H2
Back in 2015, we saw a hyper-bike from Kawasaki which was capable of defying the laws of physics with its sheer power and mind-numbing speed. Yes, we are talking about the 200bhp H2. And apparently, for some reason, Kawasaki thought that 200bhp is far too “less” for the H2. So, the blokes at Kawasaki have given the 2019 H2 more power.
The 998cc, supercharged, in-line four motor now produces 228bhp at 11,500rpm and 141Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. That’s an increase of 28bhp and 8.2Nm of torque over the previous model. But, you see, if you have pockets filled with cash then Kawasaki will happily sell you a hard-core, track-focused version of the H2, the H2R. Powering the H2R is the same 998cc motor, but here, it develops 308bhp at 14,000 and 156Nm of torque at 12,500rpm and will clock 400kph on the speedometer with ease. Quite mad, isn’t it?
Back to the 2019 H2 then… along with more power, what else does the 2019 H2 get? Kawasaki has updated the air intake, spark plugs, the ECU and the air filter. The 2019 H2 also gets a new TFT display with smartphone connectivity that gives vehicle information such as GPS navigation, gear position, fuel mileage, fuel level and battery condition. The 2019 H2 is equipped with Brembo Stylema calipers and Bridgestone Battleax RS11 tyres. It is equipped with fully adjustable suspension at both ends. And oh, it also gets a new self-healing paint that, Kawasaki claims, will smooth over small scratches when in warmer climates; just like we saw in the all-electric Lamborghini Terzo Millennio. The H2 tips the scale at 238kg and sits on a Trellis frame.
The current H2 is retailing at Rs 33 lakh (ex-showroom) so expect the 2019 model to be more expensive than the previous one. The hyper-bike from Kawasaki challenges the top-dogs of the litre-class category such as the Ducati Panigale 1299, the BMW S1000 RR, MV Agusta F4 RR and the Ducati Panigale V4 S.
