Audi to increase the price of its models by 4 per cent
Audi has announced that it will increase the price of its entire range by 4 per cent. This means, new Audis will cost anywhere from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 9 lakh more than they already do. Audi says that the increase in custom duty has forced them to make such move.
“The increase in Custom duty and introduction of Social Welfare surcharge in lieu of an Education cess (which is higher than the erstwhile cess) in the Union Budget made the increase in price inevitable. We have tried to absorb the impact of the price increase in the Customs duty and have minimized the price hike for our customers.” says Rahil Ansari, Head, Audi India
Audi’s sales in the last financial year were lackluster compared to its German rivals. It remains to be seen how this price hike affects Audi’s sales figures, especially since they have launched a few new cars including their best-selling Q5 (read our review here) in the last few months. The new prices will get in to effect from April 1.
