BMW adds another variant to 5 Series with the 520d M Sport
Continuing its assault on the luxury segment in India, BMW has today introduced another M Sport variant in the form of the 520d M Sport. This addition will be placed above the Prestige Plus and Luxury Line trims in the lineup and comes equipped with a sportier design.
The changes are more noticeable on the exterior with the M aerodynamics package. This package brings about sportier revisions to the body with a flow-optimised air intake at the front, side skirts with sharper contours and the rear getting exhaust pipe finished in dark chrome along with the diffuser that is done up in dark shadow metallic. ‘M’ badging on the front wings, ‘M’ door sills and 18-inch alight alloy wheels are some other elements that distinguish the Sport model from the standard variants.
The interior is adorned with high-grade materials and leather upholstery for the seats that also feature contrasting seams. The front sport seats are electrically adjustable and in conjunction with the ‘M’ multi-function steering wheel afford the driver comfort and better control. The cabin is equipped with features such as the 25.9cm (10-inch) screen for the iDrive infotainment system, 3D map navigation, park distance control, rear-view camera and a multi-function instrument display.
Under the hood rests a 2.0-litre four-pot TwinPower diesel engine pushing out a power output of 190bhp and 400Nm of twist. The engine, mated with the eight-speed automatic transmission results in a 0-100kph sprint time of just 7.7 seconds and a top reach claimed at 233kph.
For those of you who are interested, BMW’s latest comes in choices of blue and black metallic paint-jobs and a white non-metallic finish. Oh, and owning one will set you back by Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
