JLR off to a strong start in the first half of 2018
The first half of 2018 has proven to be quite encouraging for luxury car manufacturers. Most carmakers have released their sales figures and Mercedes-Benz has emerged on top. The German carmaker has sold more than 8,000 units. Now, another luxury car manufacturer has released its figures. Jaguar Land Rover reported an increase of 66 per cent in sales in the first half of 2018, clocking 2,579 units.
During the first half of 2018, JLR launched the Velar, the Evoque Convertible, the F-Type SVR and the 2018 Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport.
While Mercedes is dominating the sales chart with 8,000 units, its other German rival, BMW, sold 4,890 units and the total sales of the BMW Group stand at 5,171 units. Swedish carmaker Volvo, too, saw a healthy growth of 33 per cent.
Despite factors such as rising input costs, implementation of GST and increasing fuel prices, the sales of luxury cars didn’t seem to be affected. And oh, the festive season is still to come, generally the time when manufacturers add some extra numbers to their tally. If this positive growth continues, then it is very likely that the luxury car segment will end the year on a high.
