Launched: 2017 Land Rover Discovery

Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that the all-new Discovery, originally shown at the Paris Motor Show last year, will be on sale in India in November and is already accepting bookings online and at showrooms.

As you might notice, this new 5th generation Discovery looks very similar to the outgoing model, but it is an all-new car. The new frame is 85 per cent aluminium making it lighter by more than 400kgs, and there's lots of new technology and features on board to bring it up to date with the times. This 7-seater family SUV gets new dimensions too: 4970mm long, 2220mm wide, and 1846mm tall, which makes it 141mm longer than the outgoing car, but narrower and lower. The cabin space has been increased too now that the wheelbase is 38mm longer than the previous model. So, it's more spacious and still just as capable as the old one with its 283mm ground clearance, 900m wading depth and it even gets LR's Terrain Response 2 tech.

Globally, the new Discovery does get Jaguar Land Rover's Ingenium family of engines but they will not be available at launch. Instead, Land Rover is introducing it with the more powerful 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines. The petrol Si is tuned for an output of 335bhp and the turbo-diesel V6 makes a maximum of 256bhp.

The new Discovery is not the only new offering that is expected to go on sale in November (read Velar coming to India) and the prices are already announced and are as follows:
