Launched: Tata Nexon Kraz

It’s been a year since Tata motors launched their quirky-looking compact-SUV, the Nexon. It has been received rather well by the Indian market and Tata has already sold more 50,000 units of the Nexon. To celebrate its first anniversary, Tata has launched a special edition of the Nexon called Kraz.

By the looks of it, the Kraz is a sinister take on the standard Nexon with a dash of funkiness added to it. The special edition Nexon is draped in a black and grey paint scheme. There are neon green inserts on the wheels, mirrors and the front grille. You can find the neon green theme make its way to the inside as well; on the AC vents and on the seats. And oh, if you by any means fail to recall the name of this special edition, then a number of badges around the car will help you remember it.

In terms of performance, the special edition remains the same as the standard Nexon. There are two engine variants on offer – a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. While the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol churns out 110bhp and 170Nm of torque, the diesel motor produces the same amount of power, but it produces 150Nm of additional torque over the petrol variant. Both the engines are mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Kraz and the Kraz+ are based on the XM and the XT trim respectively. Features such as central locking, Bluetooth connectivity, electrically adjustable ORVMs and steering mounted volume controls are shared between the two. But the Kraz+ is further equipped with some additional features such as auto AC, roof rails, rear AC vents and boot lamp.

The Nexon Kraz is equipped with dual airbags at the front, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, speed sensitive door lock and seat belt with pre-tensioners and load limiters. Last month, the Nexon was bestowed with four stars by the chaps at the Global NCAP.

Kraz: Rs 7.14 lakh
