Maruti Suzuki Ciaz now part of Nexa
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will now be sold at the brand's premium Nexa outlets only, starting April 1. The popular sedan joins the brand's more premium models like the Ignis and the Baleno RS. The move is expected to attract a new category of customers to Nexa and allow Maruti to sustain 20 per cent of its sales through the premium brand.
The Ciaz has been a strong competitor in the midsize sedan segment, and like its main rival the Honda City, it too is expected to get a facelift sometime this year but remain mechanically unchanged. The engine options on offer are a 1.4-litre petrol with a max output of 91bhp and 130Nm; and a 1.3-litre diesel SHVS unit that makes 88bhp and 200Nm of torque. While the oil-burner is available only with a 5-speed manual transmission, the petrol is available with a 4-speed automatic as well.
The refreshed Ciaz should also get a few new features to bring it up to date. As of now, the Ciaz's feature-list includes an audio system, ABS, airbags and even a touchscreen multimedia system in the top trim. The Ciaz currently has a starting price of Rs 9.13 lakh while the range-topping diesel costs Rs 12.94 lakh (both prices, on-road, Mumbai).
