MG Motor unveiled its first car to be launched in India, the Hector. The hybrid SUV will be available within the next few weeks to across 120 outlets in 50 cities. The carmaker aims to expand its network to 250 outlets by the end of September this year. Pre-orders of the car will begin next month, the exact dates of which will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

So what do we know about the Hector so far?

It comes with both, petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 141bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm and will be available in both manual and automatic transmissions. Its 2.0-litre diesel engine delivers 167bhp and a peak torque of 350 Nm.

Some of the manual, petrol variants will get the 48V mild hybrid system that uses Li-ion batteries for idle start-stop, regenerative braking and E-boost.

The variants with automatic transmission will have a 6-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) which, MG says, has been tested extensively under extreme climatic conditions globally for more than 2.6 million km.

On the inside, the Hector comes with MG's newly developed infotainment system, called the iSMART, launching with this car. It promises to deliver safe, connected, and fun experiences to passengers as one of India’s first internet cars. The SUV comes with over the air (OTA) technology, allowing users to update software, features, themes, and infotainment content when the updates are available.
