Renault Duster, KTM Duke 200 win Indian Car and Bike of the year 2013
So then, the Renault Duster and the KTM Duke 200 did it. Win the Indian Car of the Year and the Indian Bike of the year 2013, we mean. If you’ve been into cars and bikes for a while, you’d know of the ICOTY and IMOTY awards. With a jury comprising of the most experienced journalists who test drive and ride machines all through the year, the ICOTY and the IMOTY are awarded to the machine that comes closest to the ideals of the best car and bike of the year.
The Duster with its compact dimensions, SUV goodness, solid on-road dynamics and affordable price tag clinched it to the title. And the KTM got a unanimous thumbs-up for offering fun and frolic to the Indian biker in a competent and affordable package. As you can see, these awards don’t have categories. The aim is to quite simply recognise and honour that single car and single bike that offer all-round competence in a comprehensive, uncompromising manner. The winners are decided thorough a points system where the car and the bike that garners the maximum, wins.
The jury consists of Bob Rupani and Gautam Sen of Auto India; Vikrant Singh and Rahul Ghosh of Auto Bild; Aspi Bhathena of Car India & Bike India; Bertrand D'souza and Shubhabrata Marmar of Overdrive; Srinivas Krishnan, Pablo Chaterji and Rohin Nagrani of Business Standard Motoring and Girish Karkera and Sriram Narayanan of TopGear; Dhruv Behl of Auto X and Muralidhar Swaminathan of The Hindu Business Line.
