Tata revises Indigo eCS, Indica and Nano range

Tata Motors has begun a new chapter in its passenger vehicle business, called Horizonext (pronounced - Horizon Next). This first phase of Horizonext is purely aimed at repositioning the existing models in their respective segments and that brings along a couple of aesthetic and mechanical changes in most of their models.

Tata Motors has also revealed its plans to go green with its ‘e-max’ range, which includes CNG variants of the Indigo eCS, Indica and the Nano.  Yes, a Nano CNG that will go on sale with the Indica and Indigo CNG models following suite in the coming months.

The company is betting big on its compact sedan and that shows. The Indigo eCS takes centre stage in its latest strategy and receives host of updates. A refined CR4 diesel engine and a new F-Shift gearbox is the talking point for the new Indigo eCS. It also gets a new ‘Duo Float’ suspension setup and improved NVH package. The mechanical changes are complimented by subtle styling changes inside out. The eCS gets blackened headlamps, new fog lamp housings, a new chrome-rich front grille, new alloy wheel design for top-end variant and dual-tone bumpers. On the inside, the eCS gets 4-spoke steering wheel, new instrument cluster, chilled glove box, dual-tone interior, music system with Bluetooth and keyless entry. The eCS also gets rear parking assist.

The Indica too gets the new F-shift gearbox and dual path suspension along with dual-tone interior, new seats, metallic silver centre console, 4-spoke steering wheel and chrome strip on the rear tail gate. There isn’t much that has changed in the Sumo Gold, except for a new music system with UBS and Bluetooth, new dual AC, softened suspension setup, and new body graphics on the outside.

The Nano MY13 now comes with remote keyless entry, twin glove boxes and a four-speaker AmphiStream music system with Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in connectivity. It also gets a revised steering wheel which makes the Nano a bit more agile than before. But it’s not effortless and still needs some muscle power to steer around. Depending on the variant, the interiors are offered with beige and sporty black options. On the outside, the Nano gets chrome accents and an altered rear bumper with mesh inserts. As always, you can personalise your Nano with personalisation kits offered by Tata. No mechanical changes here and it continues to be powered by the 624cc, 37bhp petrol motor.

The Indigo eCS price range starts from Rs 5.29 lakh for the BSIV variants while the Nano starts from Rs 1.5 lakh. Prices for the Indica and Sumo Gold start from Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.83 lakh respectively. All prices ex-showroom, New Delhi.
