Toyota announces prices, opens bookings for the Yaris

Toyota has announced prices for their sedan, the Yaris, starting from Rs 8.75 lakh for the base manual variant going up to Rs 14.07 lakh (both ex-showroom) for the top-of-the-line automatic. These are introductory prices, and may be hiked up in the near future.

The Yaris marks Toyota's entry in to the mid-size sedan segment and comes only with a petrol engine. The 1.5-litre motor makes 105bhp and 140Nm of torque and can be had mated to the manual gearbox or a CVT automatic – an option offered on all variants. Toyota has chosen to equip the Yaris to the tee with features. For starters, all variants come with 7 airbags including curtain and knee airbags, along with ABS and EBD as standard.

The other really neat features on the Yaris including a tyre pressure monitoring system, a gesture-controlled infotainment system, cruise control, both front and rear parking sensors, ambient lighting, roof mounted air vents for the rear seat passengers. The higher variants also get a special glass for the windshield and windows that limits the NVH levels in the cabin.
