Remember the Datsun Cross concept which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo? That angry-looking golden coloured crossover? Well, Datsun has launched the production version of that car, not here, but in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Under the hood, there’s a 1.2-litre petrol engine which churns out 76bhp at 6,000rpm and 104Nm of torque. This is mated to a CVT transmission. Datsun also offers a five-speed manual variant which produces 67bhp and the same amount of torque as the CVT variant.
To give it a ‘Crossover’ look, Datsun has stuck under protectors all around the car. At 200mm, the Cross is at par with the Ford Ecosport in terms of ground clearance. It’s also equipped with projector headlamps with the auto-light system.
Just as the Go+, which this car shares its underpinnings with, the Cross is also a seven-seater.
Inside, the seats are wrapped in black fabric with silver double stitches on it. There’s a 6.75-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth compatibility. Unlike the Go+, Datsun Cross is equipped with dual airbags at the front. Not only airbags, it also gets ABS, vehicle dynamic control (VDC), EBD, traction control, brake-limited slip differential and parking sensors.
There’s still no word from Datsun on its India launch. What do you guys think about the Datsun Cross? Head-turner or not?
