Updated Mercedes-Benz C-Class to launch on September 20
Mercedes-Benz surely knows how to be in the limelight. The German carmaker is currently ahead of its rivals when it comes to car sales. And rather than popping champagne, the German carmaker is busy refreshing its India line-up. After bringing the mental E63 S AMG, the S63 AMG Coupe and some special editions of its SUVs, Mercedes-Benz is now all set to launch the updated C-Class on September 20.
This is not a generation change for the C-Class, mind you. It is more of a mid-life update. On the outside, the changes are minimal. But if you look closely you will notice that the front grille and the bumpers have gone under the knife. The LED lights at the rear have received a new pattern as well. On the inside, it gets a redesigned steering wheel, an updated infotainment system and the 12.3-inch display replaces the analogue dials.
On the mechanical front, the C-Class’ engines are either updated or all-new. The new 1.5-litre, four-pot, turbocharged petrol motor replaces the old 2.0-litre unit. The new petrol motor churns out 184bhp and 280Nm of torque. And oh, this engine is mated to a 48V electric motor, making it a mild-hybrid car. There’s also an updated 2.0-litre, four-pot, diesel motor that produces 192bhp and 400Nm of torque. The current C 250d variant will be replaced by the new C 300d and it will get 254bhp and 370Nm of torque. The seven-speed automatic gearbox will be replaced by the new 9-speed auto ‘box. But, what does all these changes translate to? Well, we have already driven the updated C-Class and you can read our review by clicking on these blue words.
