Updated Toyota Innova Crysta and Fortuner launched
The festive season is upon us and carmakers are geared up to attract as many customers as possible. Recently, Datsun had launched the limited edition redi-Go with some cosmetic updates and you can read all about it here. Toyota has also jumped on to this bandwagon; the Japanese carmaker has launched the updated versions of the Fortuner and the Innova Crysta.
Both cars get a number of additional features. Rear fog lamps, an emergency brake signal and an anti-theft alarm with glass break and an ultrasonic sensor are common additions to the Innova and the 2018 Fortuner. The Crysta, meanwhile, gets LED fog lamps at the front and the Fortuner gets a passenger side power seat and an electrochromatic IRVM. The GX grade on the Crysta is now equipped with a touchscreen display, steering mounted volume controls and speed and impact sensitive sensors.
There are no mechanical changes, though. The Fortuner gets two engine options – a 2.8-litre diesel unit and a 2.7-litre petrol unit. While the diesel puts out 174bhp and 450Nm of torque, the petrol motor produces 164bhp and 245Nm of pulling power. Both engines can be had with a six-speed auto with paddle shifts, but where the diesel gets a 6-speed manual transmission, the petrol gets a five-speed manual transmission. And oh, there’s also four-wheel-drive available on the diesel.
The Innova Crysta is available with three engine options – two diesels and one petrol. While the 2.4-litre oil-burner puts out 150bhp and 343Nm of torque, the 2.8-litre unit churns out 174bhp and 360Nm of torque. The petrol motor, on the other hand, produces 164bhp and 245Nm of torque. The smaller, 2.4-litre unit is solely coupled to a five-speed gearbox whereas the 2.8-litre unit can be opted only with a six-speed automatic transmission. And if you are going for the petrol-powered variant, you have a choice of a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed AMT.
While the Innova Crysta is priced between Rs 14.65 lakh and Rs 22.01 lakh, the Fortuner is available in the price range of Rs 27.27 lakh and Rs 32. 97 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom).
