BMW Motorrad officially launched in India
After a long wait, BMW has just announced the launch of its motorcycle range in India. While the smaller motorcycles from the portfolio are missing, almost all of their full-size bikes will now be available for purchase through a dealer network that will first start functioning from the major cities – Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune. The motorcycles will come to India as CBUs.The initial lineup includes the R 1200 RS, R 1200 RT, K 1600 GTL, R 1200 R, S 1000 R, R NineT, R NineT Scrambler, R 1200 G S Adventure, R 1200 GS and the S 1000 XR. From prices that were always well above Rs 20 lakh, they have fallen to within the range of the Ducati supersports and adventure tourers. The R 1200 GS adventure, for example, is priced at Rs 17.50 lakh onwards, which is almost exactly the same price as the Ducati Multistrada Enduro.BMW will begin rollout of its dealer network soon and will have all of the above mentioned bikes on display and sale.
