Gautam Singhania finishes P2 in Budapest
Gautam Singhania has secured a historic podium finish in the Budapest leg of the Ferrari Challenge Europe Championship 2015, after finishing second in Race 1 in the Coppa Shell category. Starting from P2 on the grid for the Race 1, Singhania made the most of the opportunity and managed to stay with the race leader Jacques Duyver, eventually finishing in a well-deserved second position. For the second race, Gautam was placed 7th on the grid.More excitement was in store for Race 2, due to rains, that started just as the cars were about to take off. Almost all the drivers opted for rain tyres, only to find the rains to subside immediately after the start. Thomas Loefflad (StileF Squadra Corse), the pole-sitter, opted to change tires. In the lead, Vladimir Hladik (Scuderia Praha), shot ahead with slicks. Hladik crossed the chequered flag first, ahead of Tommy Lindroth (Baron Service), who too, took off with slicks, and Loefflad. Singhania, meanwhile, fought hard to make three places in the race. At the end, he managed to finish a fine fourth in Race 2. With two strong results in the race, Singhania is currently placed fourth overall in the championship with 52 points. He is representing India and is endorsed by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), and coached by former F1 driver and current GT driver Andrea Motermini for the entire season. The season comprises a total of 15 races, two races a weekend, spanning six weekends at Monza (ITALY), Imola (ITALY), Mugello (ITALY), Le Castellet (FRANCE), Valencia (SPAIN) and Budapest (HUNGARY). This boils down to the world finals, consisting of three races in December 2015, one of which is with Asia and North America region finalists, totalling 40-50 racers on the grid. The next pitstop in August takes us to Circuit Paul Ricard, France. Stay tuned for some competitive racing from the Ferrari Challenge Europe Championship, 2015\\!
