Metge to ride for TVS at Indian Baja 2017
TVS Racing has announced its final line-up of riders for the Indian Baja 2017 and all of them come with impressive credentials, each one with plenty of championship wins to their name. Leading the pack after a not-so-fortunate run at the Dakar earlier this year, Aravind KP is back along with his Dakar teammate Adrien Metge from Sherco. Joining them is the winner of this years Desert Storm, R Nataraj, and Abdul Wahid Tanveer, who was the champion rider at last years National Rally. The team will be racing on the new RTR 450s, specifically tuned to take on the challenging conditions of the rally. The TVS 450cc unit produces close to 60bhp and TVS says it has focussed heavily on keeping the bike as light as possible. The extensive changes to the bikes include a modified port cross section, redesigned camshaft, increased compression ratio, re-tuned ECM, heavily tuned suspension and thicker spokes in both wheels. The Indian Baja Rally has recently been nominated as one of the Dakar Challenge events, which should attract some of the biggest names in off-road racing. After all, the winner of this rally raid gets a free pass to race in the 2017 Merzouga Rally, followed by the 40th edition of the Dakar in 2018. The two-day Indian Baja Rally kicks off on April 8 from Jaisalmer. Stay tuned for more updates.
