Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has finally pulled the cover off the all new Nissan Teana, assembled in its high-tech Serendah plant.
The third generation Teana is already one year old but ETCM needed time to locate the source local vendors to hit the 40 per cent local content target in order to comply with the low tax ruling.
The result is a reduction is price, making the Teana among the most affordable D-segment vehicle and does carry a lot of bells and whistles.
One of the major changes in the new Teana is the demise of it popular V6 engine in its Teana 2.5XV. In the mean time, the new Teana carries a 4-cylinder updated version of the QR25DE and and marked improvement in terms of low and mid range torque. Power is up to 175hp and torque is RM234Nm
The MR20DE engine is still retained for the 2.0L options, the 2.0XL and 2.0XE, providing owners wit 136hp and 190Nm of torque.
Standard across the board will be the XTRONIX CVT gearbox which is able to handle high speed performance driving but yet has re-designed interior too combat friction. The result, according to internal test shows the Teana 2.5L can go up 13.3km while the 2.0XL and 2.0XE hits the 13.5km/l mark.
Akso standard is the Rear Multi-link Suspension and Electro Hydraulic Power Steering. ETCM is also throwing in the Active Understeer Control which works in tandem with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS).
With a 516 litres of boot, Zero-Gravity Inspire Seat that allows you to sit for ages without feeling tired, 6 SRS airbags, ABS, EBD, VDC, TCS and many other standard equipment, the Teana definitely is offering value for money vehicles.
The on-the-road price for the new Nissan Teana is R169,900 for the 2.5XV, RM149,800 for the 2.0XL and RM139.800 for the 2.0 XE.
The Teana comes with a 3-year warrant or 100,000km, which ever comes fist.
