Malaysia is having a bout of limo fever apparently. Just days after Mercedes-Benz Malaysia announced that its S 400L Hybrid will sell for a tantalising, duty-exempted price of RM587,888, Euromobil stepped up to the table with the face-lifted Audi A8 L.
Priced from RM689,500, the new A8 L may have lost the price war against the Merc but the German luxo-barge has a lot to offer as this latest update is more than just skin deep.
The aluminium-bodied A8 is enhanced with first-in-class Matrix LED technology whereby the headlights consist of 25 individual LEDs can be switched on or off depending on the situation. The taillight clusters have also been revised, with new bumpers and grille capping off the new look of the flagship Audi from the outside.
Luxury is the name of the game inside, with a sunroof, rear seat entertainment suite consisting of two 10.2-inch high-res displays with two wireless Bluetooth headsets, four-zone automatic air conditioning with ionizer and a full leather upholstery among the standard fare.
Euromobil is only offering a single drivetrain option with the A8 L, a three-litre TFSI engine which delivers power to all four wheels via an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox. This quattro setup propels the limo from 0 to 100kph in just 5.9 seconds all the way to a limited top speed of 250kph.
There may be no hybrid wizardry under the hood of the A8 L but the largest saloon in Audi’s stable is still capable of returning 7.9l/100km with emission levels rated at 184g/km. Not bad for a 1.9-tonne limo which undercuts the six second mark in the century sprint, eh?
