Well, if you’re a rich playboy and the only reason stopping you from buying the awesome Ferrari 458 Italia was the fixed roof, there’s good news. Naza Italia has launched the new Ferrari 458 Spider in Malaysia. The Spider is no less compared to the Italia and comes with a Ferrari patented, fully retractable aluminium hard top. Offering the best of both worlds, the 458 Spider is the world’s first sports car to do so.
Surprisingly, the 458 Spider’s hard-top is 25 kg lighter than a traditional folding soft-top and is quieter and thermally more efficient when raised. Just like the car, it is fast too – taking just 14 seconds to open or close and occupies smaller stowage space when down.
Behind it sits the same 4.5-litre V8 as the Italia, producing 570bhp. Coupled with a dual-clutch F1 paddle-shift transmission, it is capable of clicking 100km/h from standstill in under 3.4 seconds and tops out at 320 km/h.
The car will be available with Ferrari Tailor-Made personalisation program that will enable discerning customers to spec their cars exactly to their taste. The prices start at RM1.9 million for the base car and customisation can go up to RM400,000 depending on how carried away you get with the configurator.
