14th Yamaha Balik Kampung campaign

Hong Leong Yamaha has started its Balik Kampung safety campaign today.

Held annually at specific spots around the country, the campaign is jointly organised by the Malaysia Motorcycle and Scooter Dealers Association (MMSDA) and targets all motorcyclists.

In its 14th year running, the theme is Be Seen, Stay Safe, with the key message that being conspicuous can save lives.

It incorporates six elements for the bikers to focus on:

1. Avoid being in the blind spot of other vehicles

2. Be visible to other road users

3. Functional head and tail lights night and day

4. Wear bright clothing

5. Always use reflective material on your riding gear

6. Keep a good distance from other vehicles

Apart from the campaign, the event will also held the usual 15-point safety check on all motorcycles, regardless of brand.

Hong Leong Yamaha will also carry out its Yamaha Safety Riding Science demonstration to educate riders on safety riding skills from a scientific approach.

In addition to that, FKR tyre manufacturer will also station its technicians at all the spots to conduct checks and educate motorcyclists on tyre maintenance. KHI Helmets and AEON Credit Service will give away 100 new Sirim approved helmets to replace old or unsafe helmets at each location.

Participant of the 15-point maintenance will receive a free safety vest courtesy of P&O Insurance, a Yamaha booklet on the event’s highlights, safety tips plus a reflective stickers.

The launch was done at Sungai Besi toll area and was officiated by Datuk Rahim Bakri, Deputy Minister of Transport.

Below are the six spots of the campaign.

 

31 July – Sungai Besi toll plaza (south bound).

1 August – Kompleks Duyong, Semabok, Johor.

2 August – Padang Kampung Abdullah, Segamat, Johor.

8 August – Menara Condong, Teluk Intan, Perak.

9 August – Kompleks Sukan Sony, Sebeang Jaya.

10 August – Tapak Gerai Makan, Stadium Darul Aman, Kedah.
