Lexus unveils potential SC successor

Posted on: October 19th, 2012

The Lexus LF-LC concept was first previewed in a series of concept artwork during the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year. Now though, Lexus are showcasing the real deal in the form of the LF-LC Blue Conceptat the 2012 Australian International Motor Show.

Technically, the car is a 2+2 coupe with a hybrid powertrain. The Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive which combines an Atkinson-cycle combustion engine with a high energy battery pack produces a combined output of 500hp.

Styled by American-based Calty design studio, the sports coupe aimed at the premium market being showcased sports many futuristic design cues which Lexus has in fact adopted into some of its production cars. It is finished in an Opal Blue hue said to be inspired by the stone which could be found in the Australian outback.

The interior is mostly dominated by LCD screens and touch panels expected of a concept vehicle while also boasting touches of luxury with leather and suede upholstery as well as brushed metal and wood accents lining the cabin.
If it goes into production, Lexus will finally have a proper successor to the SC. Performance figures remain unannounced at present but many are speculating that its 500hp output should be sufficient for a century sprint of less than five seconds. Watch the video below to get a better look at the LF-LC concept inside and out.
