The range of Porsche Cayenne models available in Malaysia has been widened with the introduction of the new Cayenne GTS, launched recently by Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), official importers of Porsche vehicles in Malaysia.
The GTS slots in between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo. Underneath its hood is a V8 engine that boasts 420hp paired to an eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox, all of which contribute to a 0-100km/h time of 5.7 seconds all the way to a top speed of 261km/h. While the figures do not seem to be a significant increase when compared to the Cayenne S on paper, Porsche claims that the engine and transmission are specially tuned to reinforce sporty characteristics which make short bursts of speed at any desired time possible. The GTS is the lowest riding of all Cayennes, sitting 24mm lower than the S. It is equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
Aesthetic-wise, the GTS carries the nose of a Cayenne Turbo, with metal frames and trims such as the grille and even the tailpipes finished in high-gloss black. It wears side skirts, wider wheel arches and has a distinctive twin-wing spoiler at the rear. The sporty theme is carried on in the cabin, with the upholstery being leather and Alcantara, lined with red stitching. Sports seats with eight-way electronic adjustments are fitted at the front.
The Cayenne GTS is priced from RM800,000 with a four-year factory warranty and service and maintenance package included. This means that it costs RM100,000 more than the Cayenne S but is notably cheaper than the Cayenne Turbo which goes for RM970,000.
