Since the launch of the new Volkswagen Beetle, it was only a matter of time before a Herbie variant surfaced somewhere, and it finally did – in Spain.
Dubbed the Beetle 53 Edition, the car clearly boasts styling cues inspired by the star car from movies such as “The Love Bug”, wearing the iconic tri-colour body stripes and 53 badging on the hood and even on the glovebox. The special edition Beetle also rides on unqiue 17-inch wheels.
Technically, it is still a Beetle underneath with three engine options for buyers to choose from – 1.2L TSI and 1.6L TDI engines, both producing 105hp, and a range topping 140hp 2.0L TDI engine.
In Spain, the Beetle 53 Edition will go on sale with prices starting at €22,090 (approximately RM87k). Even without this variant on sale, we believe that there are examples of the new Beetle done up in Herbie fashion on the roads already.
