500 goes electric

Posted on: November 19th, 2012

Fiat has released images of its upcoming 500e, which signify the Italian carmaker’s intent to tap into the EV market.

Essentially an all-electric variant of the 500, the key aspect that will set the 500e apart from the base model is the electric powertrain sitting under the car’s tiny hood. However, no technical details are announced just yet

There will also be a few cosmetic updates such as an updated front fascia, a new set of wheels and a striking exterior colour theme. The interior is also refreshed, with the instrument cluster sporting what looks like a completely new display.

The Fiat 500e will be showcased at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show whereby it is already scheduled to start selling in the state of California come 2013.
