Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd (SMA) has launched an updated version of the Grand Vitara which comes with additional cosmetic features as well as a new brake override system.
On the outside, the facelifted Vitara gets a fresh front fascia with a new bumper and grille. It sits on newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and comes in a new shade of paint called Gaia Bronze Pearl Metallic. Step inside and you’ll find that the fabric on the seats and door inserts have been updated.
The brake override system, a safety feature missing from the pre-facelift model, is a mechanism which allows the driver to halt the vehicle in the case of the accelerator pedal getting stuck. In other words, this throttle-override technology forces the car to stop whenever it detects that the brake and accelerator pedals are depressed simultaneously.
Apart from these minor updates, the rest of the car remains pretty much the same. This means that underneath its hood is still the 103hp 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox and the car is only available in 4×2 guise.
The new Grand Vitara retails at RM121,100 on-the-road with insurance.
