Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) Malaysia recently held the 15th edition of the Gran Turismo which took place between the 12th and 14th of October 2012. The Gran Turismo is a motoring event first organized in 1997 which mimics the concept of the historic Mille Miglia race. Every year, it attracts Alfisti from Malaysia and Singapore and this year’s event gathered an interesting pool of Alfas which range from the classic Alfasud to the current Giulietta.
The event started in Citta Mall, Selangor and from there on, participants traversed a route which brought them to iconic Malaysian locations such as Raub, Cameron Highlands, Lumut and Kuala Kangsar. This journey was filled with tight bend and challenges such as a sprint test, all of which put the Alfas to a real test of performance and endurance. The final destination was across the border in Betong, Thailand where locals were treated to a rare sight of a massive Alfa Romeo convoy.
The Gran Turismo is just one of many events that have become part of AROC Malaysia’s tradition since the club’s establishment in 1993. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the club which means that there will be lots in store for members and enthusiasts alike.
