Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd (SMA) has finally introduced the all-new Swift in Malaysia. While the outgoing model was last sold as a CKD, the new one is a CBU which comes fully imported from Thailand.
Underneath the hood, the Swift carries a 1.4-litre petrol engine mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox. This powertrain puts out 94hp and 130Nm of torque. In comparison, the 1.5-litre engine used in the outgoing model produces 100hp and 133Nm of torque.

As a result of using a smaller engine, the new Swift is five per cent more fuel efficient than the old one. Suzuki also claims that drive dynamics and real world performance are not compromised despite the slight dip in power figures.
The new Swift is wider and longer than its predecessor. It even has a wider wheelbase. The car rides on 16-inch wheels and comes equipped with safety features such as dual airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. Inside, a digital information display and keyless push start button come as standard.

Suzuki’s latest offering comes in five colour options – Ablaze Red Pearl 2, Boost Blue Pearl Metallic, Snow White Pearl, Mineral Gray Metallic and Super Black Pearl. The car is priced at RM77,888 on-the-road with insurance.
Buyers who want a sportier looking ride can opt for Suzuki’s Genuine Accessories Kit which includes skirting for the front, rear and sides, a roof spoiler, door sill guards, silver grille garnish and a Sport Sticker for the front. The cost of this package is RM5,300 on top of the cost of the car but is only applicable for Snow White Pearl models.
