Aston has launched the face-lifted Rapide with a bolder face. It also adds the “S” (Sport) moniker that clearly suggests a sportier intent of the four-door saloon. The frontal language now speaks of a single-piece aluminum grille. The rear sports a more pronounced “duck-tail” that enhances aerodynamic. Structurally, the new car also benefits from Aston’s Gen4 VH-platform that increases agility and brings sharper handling, while also enables a 20mm lower positioning of the engine, reducing center of gravity.
Aston also introduces the new AM11 naturally aspirated 6.0L V12. Power is up by 17%, or a huge 80HP in translation with a 20NM increase in torque. The tally now stands at 550HP and 620NM, with an acceleration figure of 0-100 km/h now in 4.9 seconds. Top speed has also increased to 306 km/h. Meanwhile, Co2 emission has dropped from 355 g/km to 332 g/km.
The new Rapide also receives an enhanced Gen4 iteration of its Adaptive Damping System with three distinct settings of “Normal”, “Sport” and “Track”. Inside, it features the typical Aston Martin’s opulent mix of hand-stitched leather, metal and wood trimmings. It also has the genuine practicality of foldable rear seats at a touch of a button.
The new Aston Martin Rapide S will be available to order through the brand’s 146 dealers worldwide next month with prices confirmed closer to the on-sale date.
