Naza Kia Malaysia has officially launched the new Rio, Kia’s B-segment contender. It features the trademark “Tiger Nose” grille that is flanked between projector headlights with integrated LED daytime-running lights. Also available are the electric folding mirrors with LED repeaters.
Inside, there are tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio buttons, Arkamys audio system connected to six-speakers featuring Bluetooth connectivity, AUX, USB and iPod connection.
Powering the car is Kia’s 1.4L Gamma engine with CVVT that produces 109HP and 137NM of torque, mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox with manual shifting. Fuel consumption is rated at 16.6 km/l (combined cycle) with 130 g/100km of Co2 emission.
Highlighting its maneuverability is its 5.2m turning radius, with ride and handling quality courtesy of Macpherson Struts front suspension and torsion-beam axle at the rear. In addition, it now has motor-driven power steering that shaves an additional 3% of fuel consumption.
Standard safety features are ABS with EBD, ESC, TCS and BAS; six-airbags, ISOFIX child seats and safety windows with anti-pinching technology.
Two variants are offered, Rio EX and Rio SX. The SX adds on more premium features such as keyless entry and start, electric sunroof, front fog-lights and fully automatic air-con with Cluster Ionizer. The SX also rides on 17” wheels, while the EX rides on 16” wheels.
Available in five colors of Electronic Blue (SX only), Deep Blue, Signal Red, Clear White and Bright Silver, The Rio EX sells for RM73,888 w/ insurance while the Rio SX sets you RM79,888 w/ insurance. The new Rio also comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
