Ducati has launched an updated version of the Monster 795: the Monster 795 ABS. The launch of this enhanced mid-range naked bike is also to commemorate Ducati Monster’s 20th Anniversary, a celebration of an icon that Ducati started at the Cologne Motorcycle show back in 1992.
Present at the launch were Pierfrancesco Scalzo, Sales Director of Ducati Asia Pacific; SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of NAZA; Nik Danial Nik Mahmood, Vice President of NAZA Two Wheel Division; Juan Chow Wee, GM of Next Bike Sdn Bhd; Razlan Razali, CEO of Sepang International Circuit and Nageb Abdul Majid, President of Ducati Club Malaysia.
Speaking about the launch, Scalzo expressed his excitement on just how far the Ducati Monster has come and evolved over the last 20 years: “It started with a vision of simplicity: two wheels, one engine, a saddle, a fuel tank and two handlebars. With that, we have created a new icon amongst all the bikes out there. The first Monster launched two decades ago also helped started the new “naked bike” segment, a segment which has now being followed suit by other makers.”
“Twenty years and 270,000 sold units later, now it’s the perfect time to roll out a new bike with all the racing bike technologies fitted in it, one of them being the latest Brembo braking system with ABS that can provide a new sense of safety, further enhancing the exhilarating riding experience while adding confidence and greater control to the rider.”
Quizzed on the target of 2013, SM Faisal said: “We are expecting a 300% growth this year, and we have to grow at that rate. To help achieving that rate, there are six new Ducati models that we will launch this year. All of you will see us a lot this year.” Another highlight of the launch was the official unveiling of the Monster 795 with the VIPs along with Ducati MotoGP Project Director Paolo Ciabatti and the riders, Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso.
Coinciding with Chinese New Year festive season, Ducati Malaysia is offering a promotion that give customers a low interest rate of 1.99% for up to 7 years. The Ducati Monster 795 retails at RM66,888 (nett selling price).
