BMW Group Malaysia has launched the facelifted 7-Series, introducing three models across the range – the 730Li, 740Li and the new ActiveHybrid 7L. As before, both the 730Li and 740Li will be powered by a straight-six three-litre engine which produces 258hp and 310Nm for the former and 320hp and 450Nm for the latter.
Meanwhile, the new ActiveHybrid 7L, which joins the Activehybrid 3 and ActiveHybrid 5 in BMW’s hybrid lineup, utilizes the same three-litre engine which is aided by an electric motor that delivers 55 extra horses for a total output of 354hp. Fuel consumption for the hybrid is rated at 6.8 litres per 100km and CO2 emission figures read 158 grams per km. The ActiveHybrid 7L is able to travel up to 4km on electric power alone at up to speeds of 60kph.
Most of the changes with the facelifted 7-Series are cosmetic, noticeable from the exterior outlook of the car. One of the few improvements in the facelift is its upgraded interior, which features electronically adjustable individual leather seats and a Bang & Olufsen 16-loudspeaker surround sound system paired with 9.2-inch flat screens for the rear passengers.
Prices start at RM648,800 for the 730Li while the 740Li goes for RM818,800. The ActiveHybrid 7L tops the range with a price tag of 938,800 – its three-litre powerplant denying it tax exemptions applicable for energy efficient vehicles. As with all BMW vehicles, the 7-Series comes with BMW’s service + Repair Inclusive (BS+RI) package.
